I read a crazy, crazy book is what happened.
[Spoilers Ahead]
I really enjoyed the vibes right out the gate. The weird turns of phrase are something I find really charming throughout the whole thing. I like how right til the end Gideon is using “what would this do to Crux” as a metric for damage output.
I successfully predicted the first murders, which was cool. They were just too normal for whatever the hell was unfolding by that point, alas.
Denouement of a murder mystery but there’s still a quarter of the book to go, this was a sign of things to come.
I was liveblogging the slat water pool scene to a the friend who recommended the series. The approximate sequence of messages was:

- Is this a fuck scene?
- like the makeup is melting and the fact that they are both fully clothed does not make this less. nudity tbh
- “if my heart had a dick you would kick it”
- oh shit
- Oh Shit
- OH SHIT
- OH BOY
- Aw Harrow
- DAMN? DAMN???
- “One flesh, on end, bitch”
- …IS this a fuck scene???
- aaand kick her back into the pool that tracks

^ I posted that screenshot about six more times
Sextus: the problem is not having a bottomless source of thanurgy
Thing earlier: pass through the energy field by sucking thanurgy out of your cavalier
Me: Hmmmm
Thing Even Earlier: you can’t succeed unless both of you make it through
Me: HMMMM. Don’t like that.
“Ghastly and obvious are my middle names” holy shit
OH. WELL THEN.
Ianthe was really enjoying her supervillain moment and it’s quite entertaining.
“Are you okay” Gideon you glorious idiot
“WHO EVEN CARES ABOUT BABS, SHE COULD HAVE TAKEN ME” GIRL WHAT. GIRL WHAT?
Aw Sextus.
“emerged from the clusterfuck” Great turns of phrase as always.
BITCH WHAT.
The Guy is surprisingly less evil than I would have expected?
That sure sure was a book. Apparently it only gets weirder from here.
